We are introducing our new product, the Thistler Fashion Patch. I originally created these for our two grandchildren for Christmas. Once I had one completed I was hooked! Since then I have been working on getting all my ideas drawn and documented so I can get to making them.
The hardest part is choosing the fabric! I love mixing different prints like in my quilts, so you will see that in my dragons. However, I am also working on patches that are more mellow for those who prefer the cohesive look.
Instructions and Tips for Applying the Thistler Fashion Patch
These patches can be applied to any fabric, leather, lame, denim, felt suede, cardboard, wood or foil.
- Prewash your fabric (if that is what you are using)
- Preheat your iron to a medium heat (silk setting). If you are using a heat press set it to 305 degrees farenheit. DO NOT USE STEAM!
- Peel off the paper backing.
- Place fashion patch adhesive side down on top of project.
- Press iron on top of patch with firm pressure for 8 seconds on each section until the entire fashion patch is bonded.
- Let it cool
When you are applying to denim, or in an area close to a seam, make sure your iron or press makes contact with the patch and the seam is not in the way. You can use a towel or wash cloth to raise the area needed.
Once your patch has cooled check the edges to ensure everything has adhered. If not, go over that area with the iron again.
All patches are machine washable. Do not use bleach when washing.
Alternative Application Method for Thistler Fashion Patch
If you do not have an iron or heat press, or you just don’t want to use it, you can use E6000 Craft Adhesive. This adhesive is a waterproof rubber-based compound that withstands washing and drying. Just make sure to cover back of the patch before applying, and then leave until dry. Please read the directions on the back of the E6000 Craft Adhesive packaging.
