Visit to Millersburg Ohio

I decided to take a break and make a visit to Millersburg Ohio for some shopping and food therapy. My daughter decided to join me and we had a blast. In her words, it was like going on a vacation. We only stopped at three places, which we will review here, but there are so many sites to see. It does not matter how often I make this trip, there is always something new to check out.

For more information about Millersburg Ohio Amish Country check out the website https://www.ohiosamishcountry.com/millersburg. To visit the website of each location we visited during this trip, just click on their name below.

Zinck’s Fabric Outlet

Our first stop was Zinck’s Fabric Outlet for some more quilting fabric! On this trip I was specifically looking for wide backing and binding fabric so I could finish my quilts. I have seven quilt tops waiting for my longarm, so it is time to complete these projects.

I like coming here because they have such a variety of material and bits and bobs. I never know what they will have but always find something useful for projects other than just my quilting. One of my favorite purchases here was my vinyl which I cover my 103″ long dining table with so it stays protected from all kinds of craft activities. My total cost was $30! If you see my other posts and social media photos, you will see this covering.

I also like to make wool lounge dresses with sweatshirt tops for the winter, and I purchase my wool from Zinck’s. I hope to get a blog posted about this project soon! It is a really simple project, and makes my winter crafting so cozy.

They have three locations you can visit.

Troyer Market

Our next stop was Troyer Market where we could grab a bite to eat and get some groceries. Be sure to check out their website where you can learn more about their store. Most importantly, they also provide recipes which includes one of my home economics favorite, German Pancakes. I think I was about 12 when I learned how to make those, and they continue to be one of my favorite things to make.

They have a café where you can purchase already made hot and cold sandwiches and snacks, along with a made to order fresh food menu. My daughter had their chicken rice bowl and I had a sausage, egg and cheese muffin with french fries. I am a sucker for a good sausage breakfast sandwich, and I must say this was possibly the best one I ever had. Their prices are extremely affordable for the portions you receive.

Some highlights of our shopping experience included their pineapple machine where your pick your pineapple and it peels and cores it for you, the baked goods section, jars of pickled items and sauces, and barrel sauerkraut. They also have frozen appetizers you can take home to bake, fry or air fry yourself which includes breaded mushrooms, pickles, macaroni bites and crab cakes. After leaving we determined that we are close enough that this may become a monthly shopping trip. If my freezer wasn’t already full I would have also purchased a lot of meat products.

There is too much to list, so make sure to check out their site. They do offer online shopping and free shipping for all orders over $125.

Heini’s Cheese Chalet

Our last stop was Heini’s Cheese Chalet, and it did not disappoint. This family owned and operated business has been there since 1935.

We come from a family of cheese lovers, and this place was outstanding! They have so many different cheeses, sauces, jellies, snacks, meats and more. They also have delicious lactose free and raw milk cheese options. They also sell their cheese ends in the store at a lower per pound price.

One of my personal favorites is the lactose free Yogurt cheese which contains live, active yogurt cultures. I did not purchase enough while there and went through that as a snacking cheese pretty quick. I also enjoyed the flavor of the raw milk Gouda I purchased. I bought both varieties of Gouda, and really enjoyed the raw milk version. In all I bought six different cheeses and loved them all.

They also offer an online store which I highly suggest taking a look at. Of course, the visit to the store is must if you can. You can watch them making their cheese if they are in operation during your visit. You can call ahead to get the weekly cheese-making schedule.

A Visit to Millersburg Ohio is Always Satisfying

I have been here many times as I am fortunate to live close enough to make this a day trip. I have also stayed for a weekend. There is never enough time to see everything, and I always find something new. This trip my new finds were Troyer Market and Heini’s Cheese Chalet. My next inquiry is going to be about the heated buggy rides I saw a sign for during our visit.

I truly recommend making a trip here if you can. There are so many shops, restaurants, cafes and more! Please leave any comments about your experience in Millersburg Ohio Amish Country below. We would love to hear about your favorite places there.
